Cyber Safety:
These days, every member of the family uses the computer for so many things … shopping, doing homework, social networking. Most of the time, computer use makes our life richer and more efficient.
Unfortunately, not everyone uses computers for good purposes. The statistics about the prevalence of online child predators are alarming. What's more, research has documented the accompanying unsafe online practices of children and teens, making them more vulnerable. Social networking sites in particular have made it all too easy for anonymous adults to prey on children.
For the reason, the Office of the Attorney General offers these web pages full of Cyber Safety tips and activities to help parents and children avoid dangerous situations that can arise on the "information highway." Attorney General Dustin McDaniel encourages families to communicate about how to safely surf the Internet.
In addition, the Office of the Attorney General's Community Relations offers Keys to Safety, a comprehensive curriculum designed to educate young people about child abduction, runaway issues, and online safety. To learn more about or to schedule a Keys to Safety program, please call the Community Relations of the Attorney General's Office at 501-682-1020 or 1-800-448-3014.
